Paul's Galleries To Go
I’m a writer and curator, but that all stems from going to galleries to see art – so, maybe I’m a visitor first, a writer and curator second. And I go because I enjoy it – much more, for example, than looking at art online.
I’d written weekly for FAD for a decade, mostly on the back of such visits, when I found myself stuck in hospital, followed by post-op recovery, in 2022 – and 2023! Unable to see shows, I switched to writing more generally about a gallery each week, which I could do more on the basis of past visits.
And I’ve carried on since! Maybe I’ll get beyond London some time, but there are a couple of hundred contemporary galleries worth visiting in London, so the capital has been enough to get on with, so far. Here’s a selection of 64 from the first hundred or so over 2022-24. They reflect the variety – small to global, commercial to public, artist-run spaces attached to studios...
