Art of Conversation - Issue 1
ISSUE 01
The debut issue of Art of Conversation brought together artists, musicians and cultural figures for a series of raw, unedited exchanges exploring creativity, friendship, identity and process. Across the broadsheet, conversations move fluidly between art, music, philosophy and lived experience, capturing the spontaneity and depth that emerge when creative peers speak openly with one another.
Richard Russell and Toby Ziegler discuss experience and its impact on creative practice, while James Ostrer and Azu Nwagbogu examine cultural conditioning and appropriation. Elsewhere, Ryan Gander and Cory Arcangel unpack context and intention, and Matt Berninger and Stephen Butler reflect on language, songwriting and the role of the written word across art and music.
The issue also includes conversations between Martha Tuttle and Sarah Faux on bodies, touch and meditation, alongside a discussion between Massimo Agostinelli and Maxwell on friendship, collaboration and the emotional foundations of creativity.
A portrait of contemporary culture through intimate conversation, Issue 01 established the tone for the series: thoughtful, expansive and completely unmediated.
